A Woman’s Identity Part 4

In my previous blog post on a woman’s identity, we looked at what happens when we get born again. To be more specific, we learnt what happens to our identity when we get born again and we emphasized that we become righteous. We can confidently say that we are sinless because we are born again. Remember that we are a three part being – Spirit, Soul and Body. I am a Spirit, living in a body and I have a soul. In this blog I would like you to know that you are a saint.

When Paul wrote to the Christians in Ephesus , he addressed them as saints and the reason was that they had believed in Jesus CHRIST. As long as we believe in Christ, Jesus, we become saints, regardless of the past we have. Regardless of where we have been , what we have  done or not done, we are now saints. So, being a saint is not reserved for the people who have died, as some religions demonstrate today. Even the living are called saints. This is because we are also redeemed and forgiven in Christ. All our sins, past, present and future have been forgiven. We should not be dwelling on them. We become a new creation in Christ Jesus and are living a new life all together. Let us forget the  past and focus on what lies ahead.

In Ephesians 1:4-5   I am chosen and predestined for adoption to son ship by the Heavenly Father , we are chosen , and we were predestined to become sons of God. By becoming Christian, that is believing in Christ, we become sons and daughters of God by adoption. We are now coheirs with Christ, and belong with him, because he first chosen us.

This means that just like Jesus, you are a daughter of God, the Most High. This is the phenomenon of “Sonship“. The bible emphasizes this when it compares the servants and sons in a home. it little by little shows how the mindset of a son differs from that of a servant in a home, how the son versus a servant ought to behave in a home and what each of them is entitled to. This comparison is vivid and I will delve into that in my next blog.

Questions?

  • Who do you say you are?
  • Who does the bible say you are? Can you write that  down in your journal and read that out loud with your name, and I am ?
  • How do you feel about what you just did?
