The Law of Process Part 2

Source: success.com

From my last blog we got to know that God actually knows and cares about the law of process. He has used it and is still using it today to accomplish His plan for humanity and the world – by transforming us into Christlikeness. This is powerful to me because it allows me to “not give up easily“. Knowing that it’s a process allows me to be patient, and to understand that there are prerequisites for the next stage and I will not do well at that stage without these prerequisites. Most of all, it gives me the confidence that I will get to the end at some point.

According to John C. Maxwell, the Law of Process states that, ” leaders develop daily, not in a day. “ He demonstrates that leadership cannot be achieved instantly, and that being in a leadership position does not make you a leader. One would need to grow in order to finally qualify to be called a leader. John C. Maxwell has authored another book entitled “The 5 Levels of Leadership”, in which he practically demonstrated the growth of a leader from a level 1 leader, focused on position and rights, to a level 5 leader who has arrived at the pinnacle, where they are being followed because of who they are, and what they represent. – this is an insightful and life transforming read.

” If you continually invest in your leadership development, letting your assets compound, the inevitable result is growth over time” . – John C. Maxwell

This all seems like transformation to me. In the previous blog post I highlighted Romans 12:2 and II Corinthians 3:18, which bring out the aspect of transformation . The scriptures demonstrate a change from one thing to another. But what is transformation?

According to the Cambridge dictionary, transformation is defined as

the process of changing completely, the character or appearance of something in order to improve it.

Scripture shows the law of process through transformation, where there has to be a starting point, a process and an end point – we transform from one thing into another, from one mindset into another, from one level to another. Lets delve into various other scriptures that demonstrate the law of process. Let us look at a few examples which describe the law of process in the bible.

  • The process through which the word of God bears seed in our lives is discussed in the parable of blade, ear and corn which is commonly known as the “The Parable of the Growing Seed” – which is the word of God according to Mark 4:14. In Mark 4:26 – 29, there is a process though which the word bears fruit in our lives. We plant the word in our hearts and we do not know how it bears fruits. It is not an instant occurrence that once the word (seed) is planted in our hearts, we shall have a harvest there and then. We have to plant, give it time to sprout and grow, let the earth ( our hearts ) yield the crops – moreover, we do not know how this happens. Once the gain ripens, the sower can then harvest it. It is important to note that there was seed, that has now transformed into a harvest, and it took time before it got to this point.

Mark 4 : 26 – 29 26 And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should [a]scatter seed on the ground, 27 and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. 28 For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head29 But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

  • Within this process of how the word of God bears fruit in our lives, there is another process that is significant – The process of how the earth bears grain. The word in Mark 4: 26 -29 elaborates that the sower does not know how the seed sprouts and grows. this is because the process is hidden under the earth ; in this case inside you, deep in your heart. The process is however explained in that scripture, ” first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head “. This process brings forth the fruit which the sower then reaps or harvests. This is the process through which the word of God comes alive in us.

Allow me to state also that the seed you sow, determines what you will reap, for the bible says in Galatians 6:7 that , ” Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. ” If you sow seed of the word of God, of incorruptible nature, your harvest too will be incorruptible, but if you sow carnal seed, your harvest will also be carnal. Watch what you put into your heart. See Hosea 10:12

From this we have defined transformation and given two examples of transformation happening in the bible. There are still some questions that we need to answer from the previous blog post. For example, Are there ways in which our day to day lives unveil the law of process? What is the relationship between our FAITH and the Law of Process? How does this law of process unveil in our self development / leadership journey?

Follow and stay tuned for answers to these questions and more in my next blog posts.

PONDER: What am I planting in my heart? Is it going to yield a good fruit or will it yield bad fruit?

Thank you
